Clean Core is NOT a given.
After over 2,000 SAP analyses, I have come to a simple realization:
The biggest challenge in transformation is rarely the vision –
but almost always the path to get there.
But where does this path begin?
Many companies do not know their actual starting point –
and run the risk of going in the wrong direction with the very first step.
This is particularly evident in the example of Clean Core:
A strong concept that sounds like clarity and order –
but without real usage transparency, it remains abstract.
What causes Clean Core to fail in practice:
A pattern we see in almost every project:
🔹 Process analyses that are well structured –
but are based on models that have little to do with the reality in the system
🔹 In-house developments that no one actively knows anymore –
but determine or block central processes
🔹 Decisions that are based on assumptions –
rather than on reliable usage data
Anyone who really wants to create a clear core must first understand what makes it unclear today.
